Purchasing and Supply Manager

£46,000 Per Annum + Bonus

Our well-established client has an exciting opportunity for a Purchasing/Supply Manager to join their team near Burton on Trent.

The successful candidate will lead the UK purchasing team and manage daily purchasing operation. Also sourcing related tasks, such as contract negotiations, tender instigation and resolution are part of the job. You will be responsible for customer satisfaction by guaranteeing the quick response on customer requests and local spare part availability in cooperation with the local warehouse organisation.

Purchasing and Supply Manager main responsibilities will include:

  • Centralised procurement activities in the UK company
  • Line management for the purchasing team
  • Forecasting levels of demand for services and products to meet the business needs and keeping a constant check on stock levels to maximise business efficiency
  • Managing business integration for the spare parts supply network and local warehousing operations
  • Conducting research to ascertain the best products and suppliers in terms of best value, delivery schedules and quality
  • Liaising between suppliers, manufacturers, relevant internal departments and customers
  • Identifying potential suppliers, visiting existing suppliers, and building and maintaining good relationships with them
  • Negotiating and agreeing contracts and monitoring their progress - checking the quality of service provided
  • Processing purchases, payments and invoices
  • Developing the UK Company’s purchasing strategy in conjunction with global procurement team based in Finland
  • Evaluating bids and making recommendations based on commercial and technical factors

What our client are looking for in the Purchasing and Supply Manager:

  • Qualified CIPS with good educational background
  • Proven experience of managing projects, negotiating key contracts and sourcing innovative suppliers to suit business dynamics
  • Proven experience of creating strategic partnerships
  • Strong attention to detail with ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Negotiation skills - good influencer to achieve the best outcome for the business
  • Excellent level of MS Word, Excel and Outlook
  • SAP experience desirable
  • Drive – someone who is self-motivated and career driven with a strong sense of urgency, enthusiasm and commitment
  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills
