This vacancy is now closed Mechanical Inspector - Fairford £21,000 Per Annum - Engineering Ref: 1070 Date Posted: Monday 01 Apr 2019 ShareMore Mechanical Inspector Fairford, Gloucestershire £21,000 Per Annum Primary Mechanical Inspector Job Purpose: Carrying out inspection activities on machined product to ensure conformity to drawing/customer requirements in conjunction with our client's Quality Management System, to the best overall value to the Company. Requirements of the Mechanical Inspector Role: Carry out first-off inspection of individual piece parts to drawing requirements; Carry out final assembly inspection of backshells and adaptor assemblies for direct supply to the customer; Carry out documentation checks on all completed jobs; Carry out in-process inspection (eg part mark and thread checks) prior to part assembly; Carry out Goods Receiving verification of supplied machined parts & raw material; First Article Inspection; Carry out First Article Inspection; Complete First Article Inspection Report (FAIR); Record inspection results on the relevant statistical spreadsheets; Maintain test & verification tooling used for mechanical inspection in conjunction with the Tool-Store Supervisor; Monitor machined scrap; and Any other task as directed by the Head of Machine Shop. The list of duties and responsibilities is not intended to be an exhaustive list of tasks performed. Other associated tasks are likely to be performed as directed by the relevant Manager. Mechanical Inspector Qualifications/Skills/Personal Qualities: Background in an electro/mechanical manufacturing environment with experience of Defence/Military & Civil Aerospace products; Ability to read and understand a variety of technical data including General Assembly drawings, machining drawings, technical specifications and procedures; Experience in the use of a variety of measuring devices essential (including Vernier callipers, micrometers, height gauges, internal and external thread gauges, wire gauges etc); General IT skills essential with a knowledge of Microsoft products (Excel, Word, Visio etc); Attention to detail in all areas of inspection and test essential; Good communication skills (verbal and written); Willing to undertake specific training to support the duties and responsibilities detailed above; Capable of working with minimum supervision; and Self motivating with a flexible work ethic.
